    Cold War simulation
    08/26/2013
The Cold War simulation was an excellent addition to my World History class. Students were passionate about their roles and responsibilities. The simulation truly immersed them in Cold War politics. The product is well thought out and clear for the teacher to learn and execute. I highly recommend it as an addition to any history class.

    Great Cold War Simulation
    08/28/2013
I used this Cold War Simulation in my 11th grade US History class, and the students loved it! I saw an increase in participation and in interest in the topic. I saw students that didn’t typically participate in class participating. The simulation does a great job of getting the students to critically think and experience the Cuban Missile Crisis, all while letting them have fun with it. I will definitely be looking into the other simulations offered.

    AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

I implemented this simulation in my class and it was amazing! I work in an alternative school and the students are less than enthusiastic about school work. However, these simulations, especially this Cold War topic, drew them in and engaged them in a way that I had never experienced before. They were talking about it after class and trying to discuss their plans in other classes (the one time I actually smiled when I had a fellow teacher tell me students were doing my work in their class). The simulations are easy to differentiate and change for level and class size. I am so glad to have found these amazing simulations!!! YOU GO DAVE!

    Great Learning Opportunity

I ran this sim with my 10th Grade U.S. History classes as we started our Cold War Unit. This served as a great way to introduce the key ideas of Mutually Assured Destruction, Brinkmanship, and the Arms Race. The key student leaders were surprised at how hard it was to get everybody to follow their lead and this led to a deeper understanding of what the actual world leaders went through during this era. I’m looking forward to figuring out how to fit more of these sims into the curriculum next year!

    Great classroom activity!

The Cold War Simulation is a great activity for grades 7-12. I have middle school students, and wanted to do something different for a unit. My students really enjoyed taking the roles of different countries during the Cold War. My student leaders found it difficult to get everyone to go with their viewpoints, so a lot of diplomacy happened. I had to really guide some students during the start of the activity, but most students really got into their roles. Finally, as a teacher, make sure you give yourself sometime to print and plan out the activity. This activity is great, and I am sure it will run smoother each year I use it.

    Excellent Simulation

I used the Cold War simulation for the first time last year and it did not disappoint. In the other simulations I normally generate a mock draft board of randomly chosen positions for country selection, but with this simulation I followed the suggestion to hand pick the USA/USSR. The outcome in my classes couldn’t have been better or different! The students responded well, engaged as expected, but in one class relative peace/stalemate was reached while in the other nuclear holocaust reigned. The discussions that followed both classes were amazing and helped students gain experiential insight into the political/military balancing act of the Cold War. I look forward to using it again this year!

    Fantastic addition to classroom

I have been using this simulation for two years, it has quickly become a favorite of mine and the students. EVERY student is actively engaged and held accountable as individuals in this simulation which I love. Before using this simulation my students learned about the cold war but struggled with the idea of “why not just bomb them”. This simulation really gives them a thorough understanding of the tensions that arose and therefore leads to a better comprehension of some of the events that took place in the United states as a result (duck and cover, Rosenbergs, etc).

    Would absolutely recommend this product!

    Hands On History for Students
    11/14/2016
Giving the students the ability to play a game gets them excited about history. The are engaged in this game of strategy. The best part is they are learning and do not even realize they are doing so while having FUN!

    Kids love it

I have used the Cold War Simulation for a couple of years and I have found it the absolute best way to teach the Cold War. Students take on the roles of world leaders but quickly realize every decision risks pushing the world to nuclear war. The intensity is high and my students engagement level is through the roof. I would recommend this to anyone teaching the Cold War.

    Awesome Simulation!
    11/21/2016
I have used this simulation for many sections of my American History class. It’s a great change of pace and helps develop understanding that students might not achieve through traditional instruction. They “live” through the Cold War and class involvement skyrockets. I’d highly recommend to any teacher looking for a fun, well-thought out lesson plan.
