Weekly Update for Modern World History Teachers 1/19/2026

Hello, educators!

This week, we are wrapping up Module 11: Church and Society in Modern World History 1. The students have engaged deeply with the material. They have shown great interest in how religion influenced society.

Next, we will dive into Module 12: Societies and Empires of Africa. Specifically, we will explore three sections:

  1. 12.1 Diverse Societies in Africa
  2. 12.4 North & West African Civilizations
  3. 12.5 Eastern City-States and Southern Empires

In Modern World History 2, we are finishing Module 27: Years of Crisis. Students have been eager to discuss the events leading to World War II. We are preparing for the World War II Simulation. Each student has received their country assignments and materials.

However, they have not yet seen their top-secret documents! This adds an element of excitement to the simulation.

Unfortunately, we are currently facing a two-hour delay. High winds and sub-zero temperatures have impacted our schedule. The temperature is -4 degrees, with winds at 19-26 mph. This results in a wind chill of -26 degrees!

Stay warm and engaged, everyone! Let’s look forward to another productive week.

Here’s a link that provides an overview of pre-World War II history:

This resource covers the key events and developments leading up to World War II.

Best, Mr. Harms
